Born in London and raised in a commune in Vancouver, Belle has always been surrounded by musical activity. Almost as soon as Belle was walking and talking she was singing and entertaining her extended family and friends.
Belle studied Music and the Arts at University and gained a degree in the Academic Arts. As well as writing her own material she has performed live in both the UK and Canada.
Inspired by a diverse mixture of talent such as Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Satie and Indian Raga, Belle has always remained positive and experimental in her work, believing that all songs should contain life and emotion.
Belle has now laid her roots in London to concentrate on her writing and singing. She was involved in Amazing Tunes Sound 2008 and the International Songwriting competition 2008 and was a Finalist in both. One of Belle’s singles “Got Me Trying” was recently licensed to BBC drama Falcon Beach.
Whilst in Canada Belle was offered a record contract but didn’t feel this was the right deal for her, unfaltered and full of spirit she set up in London where she continued to write music. Soon after arriving in the city Belle founded and now hosts an evening of music performance and poetry entitled “Une Belle Nuit” filling various venues around north London and after incredible support from Record Of The Day and Time Out she’s been inundated with acts wanting to be a part of this special night. Through her determination to find the right set-up for her music, Belle has found her own management and even set up song-writing workshops encouraging young children with their own creativity. In addition to all of this, Belle still fulfils her own occupational role as a nanny. The response to her music has been overwhelming and only last week she was voted no 1 in Metro’s ME Music chart, all of this without a record contract!
Belle is currently working on material for her debut album…
