Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, and since 2006 has raised thousands of pounds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, walking around Birmingham and London, across the South Downs, the Great Wall of China and the Thailand Jungle. Fundraising has given her a focus and something to aim for to forget about the cancer.

Mum does five weekly boot sales, bakes cakes to sell, writes to about 100 companies and celebrities every week asking for donations to raffle, and she spends hours listing things on eBay.

Mum works full time, is a single parent, and still receives treatment for her cancer. She doesn’t have much money, but uses her spare money for fundraising purposes (buying stamps, envelopes, prizes for our tombola), rarely buys anything for herself, selling some of what she does have to raise money. She is my inspiration and deserves recognition because she is the best.
