Nina Barough founded the charity ‘Walk the Walk’. Nina, who had no experience of fundraising, had an idea to power walk New York’s marathon in decorated bras to raise money for good causes.

In 1996, 13 women took to the streets of New York and raised over £25,000 which was donated to ‘Breakthrough Breast Cancer’. A year later, Nina was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer she had a mastectomy, followed by radiotherapy and drug treatment.

Nina continues to organise power walking marathons and to date ‘Walk the Walk’ has raised £52 million for breast cancer causes.
