Lauren LaverneLauren was born in 1978 in Sunderland. During early school days she met fellow band mates Gitarist Marie du Santiago and a few years later Emmy Kate-Montrose. Laverne went on to study English literature, social history and sociology at the City Of Sunderland College from 1994-1996.

Lauren, Emmy and Marie got together along with Lauren's brother Pete to form the band 'Kenickie'. They became the darlings of the British music press due to their refreshing style and views. The relocation of the band to London became the ultimate downfall as it ruined the dynamic built up by being based in sunderland.

Laverne has hosted TV shows such as "Plant Pop" for Channel 4, fanorama (E4) and Party in the Park. In recent years she has been seen as one of BBC2's main presenters for their coverage of Glastonbury festival and the host of ITV2's coverage of events such as The British Comedy Awards and the Brit Awards.

Lauren joined XFM London in 2002.She took over XFM's drive-time slot from Zoe Ball@ the start of 2004 and went on to win best newcomer @ the Commercial Radio Awards.

Since 2006 Lauren has been a regular presenter on BBC's art magazine programme "The Culture show" alongside Mark Kermode.

She is currently presenting her own show since June 08 on BBC6.

Lauren lives with her husband; DJ Graeme Fisher and her first child Fergus James in London.
