Denise RobertsonDenise Robertson joined This Morning in 1987.  This is her 21st year on the programme and from her various columns she has receivedover 200,000 letters detailing the problems which afflict ordinary people, many of which she has experienced herself.

I wish to nominate her for her charity support. She is a patron of more than thirty charities, among them The Bubble Foundation UK, Relate North, Careline, Crysis, the National Council for Divorced and Separated and Youth Access. And her work is tireless – she will ring celebrities at home and beg them to take part – she is up and down the motorway constantly campaigning for funds.

In 2006 she was awarded the MBE and holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Sunderland and an honorary fellowship from St Mary’s College in the University of Durham.  She is a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Durham and lives near Sunderland, where she is holds the Freedom of the City.

She has written eighteen novels, the first of which won a literary award, an award winning TV play, a stage musical, Fine,Fine,Fine and “Relax!  It’s Only a Baby”, a guide for parents.  Her autobiography “Agony: Don’t Get Me Started”, was published in 2006 and a novel, A Relative Freedom, is reissued this year.
