back to Awards & NomineesThe Inspiration Awards - Agyness Deyn
Dubbed as the new Kate Moss, Agyness Deyn has been the most exciting British model to emerge over the last year. A down-to-earth lass from Stubbins, Lancashire she famously started out working in her village chippy, serving up, and often eating, portions of deep-fried haddock in a grease-stained tabard.
Today she is, without exaggeration, the most sought-after model in the world - the face of the Noughties - and celebrities such as Pixie Geldof, Sarah Harding and Kimberly Stewart are queuing up to have their hair cropped into a peroxide blonde 'Agy'. Those who work with her rave about her good nature, "She has life, personality and she's very enthusiastic about everything she does,' says Vogue photographer Robert Fairer. 'She jumps up and down, she plays the part and she is always happy.' A happy supermodel? Surely not!
And yet it truly seems to be the case that fashion, a world renowned for its cold reserve, has been won over by the sheer, smiling enthusiasm of Agyness - perhaps we should be too.
